The objectives of this study were:(1)To compare home assignment habits in girls and boys. (2) To find out types of irregularities in boys and girls. (3) To find out the causes of irregularities in boys and girls. (4) To find out improvement in students’ academic achievement and habit of treatment of irregularity in home assignment.
The researcher used purposive sampling method selecting 20 students of Class Xth who were found irregular in doing their home assignments.
The researcher developed checklist for irregularities for teachers, Socio-economic rating scale, Questionnaire for teachers, Irregularity reformatting rating scale, Semi structure interview schedule for high and low scorer irregular in HSPQ, and Observation techniques for collecting data. High School Personality Questionnaire developed by Srivastava and Kapoor was also used for collecting data.
Survey method was used to find irregularity types and causes of irregularity. Case study method was also used for intensive study of irregulars, like, their socio-economic background, family background and other factors that were directly or indirectly related to the research. Experiment method was employed for treatment and therapy.
The findings were: (1) Peer Group Therapy was useful for the following reasons: Positive achievement; Mental relaxation of students and positive effects instead of punishment and reward theory. (2) Peer Group Therapy also developed a typical enthusiasm to do well in life with proper use of their efficiency and potentialities. (3) Peer Group Therapy for treatment of irregularity was prepared.
