The objectives of the study were: (1) To prepare a plan on developing Moral Values. (2) To study the effect of development of Moral Values. (3) To study the change in moral values with promotion in class and with age. (4) To study the development of values of nationality, non-violence, independence, patience, regard, justice, avoiding evil, sacrifice, honesty and simplicity in students of classes 7th and 9th.
The hypotheses stated were: (1) In formal education the moral value at different classes are developed at different levels. (2) In a structured program of formal education, the moral values at different intellectual stages are developed at different levels. (3) In a structured program of formal education the growth of moral value at different socio-economic status are of different levels.
For this study, 70 boys and 70 girls of class 7th as well as 70 boys and 70 girls of class 9th from two Government Schools of Churu District of Rajasthan were selected. One class each of 7th & 9th was also selected as an experimental group.
Tools used were Self-achievement scale developed by investigator, Moral Value Scale developed by Leena J. Puranchands and Social Value Scale developed by Satya Prakash Pandey.
This was planned to be an experimental study. This experimental group was exposed to few lessons prepared in Hindi and Social Sciences. Further, they were given story and biography to read. Thereafter, visuals were shown and they were engaged in cultural program. Lastly, the effect of this program was studied.
The obtained data were analyzed through t – test, Analyses of Variance and 2 x 2 Factorial Design ANOVA.
The findings were: (1) The development of moral value in class 7th and class 9th was not significantly different. (2) The moral value of students of 9th class was significantly higher than students of 7th class. (3) The growth of moral value at different socio-economic status of students of class 7th and that of class 9th differ significantly. (4) With the maturity of students of class 7th and that of class 9th, the moral value significantly developed.
