The objectives of study were: (1) To critically examine the present system of teaching of mathematics in the secondary schools of greater Bombay. (2) To study the impact of the current trends of mathematics in the secondary schools of greater Bombay. (3) To identify the nature of obstacles present in the progressive approach in mathematical teaching in the secondary schools of greater Bombay. (4) To evolve a suitable solution to problems in the enrichment programs of mathematics teaching.

The hypotheses of study were: (1) Most of the teachers of mathematics of the secondary schools of greater Bombay are not acquainted with the latest trends of mathematics (production & propagation) teaching techniques in particular (Module: one). (2) Revolutionary changes are essential in particular to bring out proper impact of mathematics teaching (Module: two). (3) The present day problems of teaching mathematics have clear academic solutions in the new trends of educational policies and practices. (Module: three). 

The sample comprised of 500 schools teachers belonging to schools of greater Bombay. The random sampling method was employed.

The tools used were rating scales and questionnaires and observation schedule.

The statistical tools employed were percentages, CV, Mean, SD, Chi-square test and pie-charts and 1, 2, 3 dimensional groups. 

The findings of study were: (1) Most of the teachers of mathematics of the secondary schools of greater Bombay were not acquainted with the latest trends of mathematics (production & propagation) teaching techniques in particular (Module: one). (2) Revolutionary changes were essential to bring out proper impact of mathematics teaching (Module: two). (3) The present day problems of teaching mathematics had clear academic solutions in the new trends of educational policies and practices. (Module: three).
