The Objectives of the study were: (1) To know the expected role of the teacher from the viewpoint of educationists. (2) To know the expected role of the teacher from the viewpoint of leading persons of various classes of the society and principals of secondary schools. (3) To compare the opinions of the leading persons of various classes and principals of secondary schools about the expected role of the teacher.

Total 410 respondents (10 educationists, 200 principals of secondary schools and 200 doctors; advocates & engineers) were selected as sample unit. 

Tools used for data collection were evaluation sheet (close form questionnaire) for interview and an opinionnaire. 

The study was descriptive in nature survey type.

Statistical techniques used for analyzing the data were Mean, SD, PR, Kurtosis, Q, Skewness, C.R. and t – Test.  

The major findings were: (1) The similarity was founded between the opinions of the leading persons of various classes. (2) The similarity was founded between the opinions of the various variables of the secondary school principals. (3) There was no similarity of opinions found between the principals of secondary schools and the leading persons of various classes up to 45 years age & less then 10 years experience of women principals.  (4) Teacher should try to increase the result day by day and for that he should hand over preplanning and use different methods and teaching aids. (5) Teacher should try to do his work honestly which was given by principal and play important role to create disciplinary environment in his institution. (6) Teacher should interact with the parents for the students’ problems  (7) Teacher must free from bad habits and try to create awareness bad habits among his students. (8) Teacher should work with loyalty for the society.
