The objectives of the study were: (1) To study the significance of the difference between the means of adjustment of the children of the educated and uneducated mothers. (2) To study the significance of the difference between the means of level of aspiration of the children of educated and uneducated mothers. (3) To study the degree of difference between the means of intelligence of the children of educated and uneducated mothers. (4) To study the significance of the difference between the means of dependence proneness of the children of educated and uneducated mothers. (5) To study the difference between the means of academic achievement of the children of educated and uneducated mothers. (6) To study the degree of relationship between academic achievement and other variables. (7) To study the sex difference among all the variables under consideration.
The hypotheses of the study were: (1) There is no difference between the means of adjustment of the children of educated and uneducated mothers. (2) There is difference between the means of aspiration of the children of educated and uneducated mothers. (3) There is a difference between the means of intelligence of the children of educated and uneducated mothers. (4) There is no significant difference in the degree of dependence proneness of the children of educated and uneducated mothers. (5) There is significant difference in academic achievement of the children of educated and uneducated mothers. (6) All the variables are related with academic achievement. (7) There is no significance difference among all the variables under consideration of the children of educated and uneducated mothers.
The sample consisted of randomly selected 400 students of college.
Adjustment Inventory by Singh and Singh, Level of Aspiration Test by Shah and Bhargava, Group Test of Intelligence by S.S. Jalota, Dependence Proneness Test by R.M. Saraswal and final examination marks were used for data collection.
The descriptive survey method was used by researcher.The data were analyzed by percentage, CR, and correlation.
The findings of the study were: (1) There was no significant difference between the means of adjustment of the children of educated and uneducated mothers. (2) There were significant differences between the means of aspiration of the children of educated and uneducated mothers. The children of uneducated mothers were found to be higher in aspiration than the children of educated mother. (3) In level of aspiration, boys were significantly higher than the girls. (4) There was no difference between means of dependence proneness of the children of educated and uneducated mother. (5) Girls were more dependent than boys. (6) Intelligence influenced level of dependence proneness. The superior children were less dependent than inferior children. (7) There was relationship between level of aspiration and dependence proneness. (8) The achievement of children of uneducated mothers was better and difference was significant. (9) Girls were better than the boys in academic achievement. (10) Adjustment-emotional, social and educational had positive and significant correlation with academic achievement. (11) The correlation between high level of aspiration and academic achievement was very significant. (12) The correlation of academic achievement was high with other variables in case of the children of uneducated mothers. (13) The correlation between intelligence and academic achievement was quite significant in case of the children of educated and uneducated mothers. (14) There was very important and significant sex difference among all the children of educated and uneducated mothers.
