The objectives of the study were: (1) To compare the students’ enrolment in adult education center of government and non-government organizations. (2) To compare the number of adult literate persons studied in centers conducted by government and non-government organizations.  (3) To compare the qualitative level of adult literate persons studied in centers conducted by government and non-government adult education organizations. (4) To compare the instructional and learning material used by government and non-government adult education organizations.  (5) To compare teaching methods used in government and non-government adult education organizations. (6) To compare the opinion of local adults towards the government and non- government adult education organizations. (7) To compare the number of instructors, their educational level and training of government and non-government adult education organizations.  (8) To study the problems of adult education centers of government and non-government organizations.

The hypothesis of the study were: (1) There will be no significant difference between the number of students enrolment in adult education center of government and non-government organizations. (2) There will be no significant difference between the number of successful students of adult education center of government and non-government organizations. (3) There will be no significant difference between the instruments used and methods of teaching in adult education center of government and non-government organizations   (4 There will be no significant difference between the educational level and training of instructors of government and non-government adult education center. (5) There will be no significant difference between the opinion of local adults towards the government and non- government adult education organizations. (6) There will be no significant difference between the achievement of government and non-government adult education organizations .

The sample comprised of 500 students and 100 centers of Jaisalmer, Badmer and Dungerpur. 

For data collection researcher developed opinionnaire, data sheets, questionnaire, observation schedule, and achievement test.

Percentage and frequency distribution methods were used for data analysis.

The findings of the study were: (1) The number of students enrolled is same in adult education center of government and non-government organizations. (2) The known number of adult literate persons studied in centers conducted by government organizations is more than the non-government organizations. (3) The Instructional and learning material used by government adult education organizations are of superior quality than and non-government organizations. (4) There will be no significant difference between the educational level of instructors of government and non-government adult education organizations. (5) The opinion of local adults towards the government and non-government adult education organizations are found to be same. (6) The achievement of government adult education organizations is more than the non- government adult education organizations.
