Singh, L C. (1989). EFFECTIVENESS OF VALUE CLARIFYING STRATEGIES IN VALUE ORIENTATION OF B.ED. STUDENTS. Unpublished. ERIC, Education
Objectives of the study:
To study and identify suitable value clarifying strategies in developing value orientation of B.Ed. Student teachers.
To develop a battery of tests for the measurement of value orientation.
To compare the effectiveness of value clarifying strategies and Traditional strategy of teaching values in developing value orientation of B.Ed student teachers.
To study the relationship between S.E.S. and intelligence with value orientation.
Sample Selected:
113 student teachers were used as the sample, where, 63 were in the control group while 50 were in the experimental group.
Tools Used:
Cattell's culture fair Intelligence Scale-3
Khulshresth's Socio-Economic Status Scale.
Value orientation Battery of Tests.
Design of the study:
In the present study experimental method with parallel group design is used. Two groups, control and experimental were formed.
Statistical Techniques Used:
Mean, Mean squares, ANOVA, t-test, 32x32 correlation matrix
Findings:
Value clarifying strategies are more effective tan conventional methods for developing value orientation of the values of Dedication to Teaching Profession, Cooperation and Nationalism in B.Ed. Students of two teacher education 9institutions when value orientation was measured on test A of V.O.B.T.
Value clarifying strategies are found more effective than conventional methods for developing value orientation of the value of scientific outlook in B.ED. Students of one teacher education institutions as well as in the entire sample when value orientation was measured on Test- D of V.O.B.T.
Value clarification strateg8ies are found equal effective to the conventional method for developing value orientation of cooperation, Dedication, Nationalism and perseverance in B.Ed. Students when value orientation was measured on test-D of V.O.B.T.
Both the treatments 9of value orientation are found equally effective in developing the value orientation of all the five values when value orientation is measured through test-D of V.O.B.T.
At the end of the experiment, no significant relationship is found between the value orientation scores and intelligence scores in case of all the five values.
At the end of the experiment, no significant relationship is found between the Value orientation scores and S.E.S. scores in case of all five values.
