L, Mathur N. (1998). A Study of Problems Related With Mathematics of Secondary Class Students of Jodhpur District. Unpublished. Ph.D., Education. Jai Narayan Vyas University, Jodhpur.
The objectives of the study were: (1) To study the mathematical problems of urban area students by calculation efficiency test paper. (2) To study the mathematical problems of rural area students by calculation efficiency test paper. (3) To collect information related with school problems of urban area students. (4) To collect information related with school problems of rural area students. (5) To collect information related with family problems of urban area students. (6) To collect information related with family problems of rural area students. (7) To collect information related with personal problems of urban area students. (8) To collect information related with social problems of urban area students. (9) To collect information related with personal problems of rural area students. (10) To collect information related with social problems of rural area students. (11) To test the previous knowledge of urban area school students by diagnostic test paper. (12) To test the previous knowledge of rural area school students by diagnostic test paper.
The hypothesis of the study were: (1) There is no effect of calculation efficiency on solution of mathematics related problems. (2) In the area of calculation efficiency the level of both boys and girls students is same. (3) There is no effect of previous knowledge on solution of mathematical problems. (4) The level of previous knowledge is same for boys and girls students at secondary level. (5) The school problems are not same for boys and girls students at secondary level. (6) The family environment of students is not affected by solution of problems of mathematics subject. (7) The social problems of students are not affected by solution of problems of mathematics subject. (8) The personal problems of students are not affected by solution of problems of mathematics subject. (9) The family, social, and personal problems are same for boys and girls students. (10) The family, social, and personal problems are same for private and government school students.
For this 400 students of eight schools of Jodhpur were selected randomly.
The Youth Problem Inventory by Verma, Mithlesh was used for assessing problems of students and calculation efficiency test paper and diagnostic test paper were developed by investigator.
The present research is survey in nature.
The data were analysed with the help of percentage method.
The findings of the study were: (1) In the aspect of calculation, the level of government school girls students is lower than private school girls students of both rural and urban area separately. (2) In the aspect of calculation, the level of government school boys students is lower than private school boys students of both rural and urban area separately. (3) The level of calculation aspect of urban boys and girls are equally low. (4) The level of calculation aspect of rural boys is lower than the girl students. (5) In the over all sample, the level of calculation aspect of boys is higher than the girl students (6) The urban government school boys students are facing more school, family, social and personal problems in comparison to urban private school boys students. (7) The urban government school girls students are facing more school, family, social and personal problems in comparison to urban private school girls students.
