Objective of the study:
To provide the information concerning the effect of hand and task practice for the congenitally blind children.
Sample:
The sample consisted of 90 congenitally blind children, 90 sighted and 90 sighted blind fold children ranging from ages 5 to 15 years.
Tools of the study:
Handedness Test
Performance Task includes Sorting Task, Stacking Task, Finger Dexterity Test, Minnesota Rate of Manipulation Test
Method:
Experimental Method is used here. After the pretest conducted, a training of 4 months were given and the test was again conducted to know the effectiveness of hand and task practice for the congenitally blind children.
Statistical Techniques:
Mean, Standard Deviation,Chi-square, ANOVA
Findings:
The results indicate that the performance of the blind improved after practice like that of the sighted. There has been a positive effect of practice. Irrespective of the hand preference the performance of both hands is similar.
The important thing which has emerged from the study is that practice has beneficial effect irrespective of any group. Both the hands were generally adopt in working if adequate training is given to them and there is no effect on hand on ability.
