The objective of the research was to find the existing conditions, opinions, practices and plan about population education. 

Random sampling technique was used for selecting 705 teachers of D.Ed. colleges from Bomaby.

A self prepared questionnaire was used for data collection by the investigator.

The findings of study were: (1) The training was of three days but not fully utilized. The data showed great dissatisfaction about one day training. (2) With regard to study matter to be provided, the respondents of both three days program and one day’s program expressed dissatisfaction. The teachers who were trained in one day did not get any printed material to refer to at later stage. (3) The training program consisted of number of items of which following were very important: concept, objectives of population education, method and approach to teaching of population education, inclusion of population education in day to day teaching, inclusion of population education in the co-curricular activities, evaluation - unit test and examination. (4) Both the primary and secondary levels teachers were not happy with the training as it did not enable them to implement the program. This level of teachers were also not happy with the program because the heads and senior teachers failed in their duty by not training the remaining teachers in the school which would have helped in creating an atmosphere for teaching population program. (5) It can be concluded that all levels of training program should be treated with equal importance.
