Deshmukh, P A. (2006). Effectiveness of 6th class Geography Teaching with the help of Memory Training Model by using teaching aids. Unpublished. Ph.D., Education. University of Poona.
The objectives of the study were: (1) To develop learning efficiency and progress in examination in experimental group by using Memory Training Model with the help of teaching aids. (2) To compare experimental and control groups on the basis of study skills and progress in examination due to use of Memory Training Model. (3) To compare the experimental and control groups on the basis of knowledge and understanding as objectives of classroom teaching. (4) To study the difference between achievement and skills as objectives of classroom teaching of experimental and control groups. (5) To develop self-learning instructional material based on Memory Training Model. (6) To develop effectiveness in teaching by using self-analysis as skill of Memory Training Model. (7) To study the learning efficiency and progress in examination of experimental group when level of education in family, socio-economic status, achievement in 5th standard, age and sex of both the groups is same. (8) To know the probable difference between learning efficiency and progress in education of control group and experimental group using Memory Training Model when level of education in family, socio-economic status, achievement in 5th standard, age and sex of both the groups is same. (9) To study comparative effectiveness of Traditional Teaching and experimental teaching.
Sample consisted of 60 students studying in Prathmic Vidya Mandir and Sanskar Kendra, Shrirampur during 1998-1999 session. The data was analyzed by using analysis of gain scores, paired sample t-test, t-test, mean and percentages. The tools used in the study were tests, interviews, Self-learning instructional material and evaluation tools developed by investigator. The study was experimental in nature. Pretest-Post test Control Group Design was employed. The data was analyzed by using analysis of gain scores, paired sample t-test, t-test, mean and percentages.
The findings of the study were: (1) There was significant progress in experimental group by using Memory Training Model in final examination in comparison to first and second session test. There was also significant progress in learning efficiency in Geography by using Memory Training Model. (2) There was significant progress in experimental group in comparison to control group in first and second session test and final examination and learning efficiency in Geography. Also there was significant progress in experimental group in last interview and practical examination. (3) There was significant change in experimental groups knowledge and understanding by using Memory Training Model. Also there was significant progress in final examination in comparison to first and second session test. (4) There was significant progress in experimental groups achievement and skills due to Memory Training Model. Also there was significant progress in final examination in comparison to first and second session test. (5) Teaching was found to be effective with the use of Memory Training Model in comparison to traditional teaching. (6) The achievement of experimental group in final examination was significantly high in comparison to first and second session test when the socio-economic status of experimental and control groups was same. (7) The progress of experimental group in examination was significantly higher in comparison to control group when socio-economic status of both the groups was same.
The learning efficiency level of experimental group students of Geography was improved. Some students attained good level, some attained very good and maximum got the mastery level.
