Prashishkhare. (2014). Development and Validation of E-learning package of Social Studies teaching method for B.Ed. Trainees. Unpublished. Ph.D., Education. University of Allahabad.
1. To construct e-learning package of social studies teaching methods for B.Ed. trainees. 2. To test effectiveness of constructed e-learning package, in terms of their theoretical knowledge (achievement). 3. To study the reaction of users towards e-learning package.
1. There is no significance difference between the Achievement Mean gain score of trainees in user and non user group of e-learning package. 1.1 Achievement Mean gain score of users of e-learning package on Lecture method teaching module and non user group of e-learning package do not differ significantly. 1.2 Achievement Mean gain score of users of e-learning package on Project method teaching module and non user group of e-learning package do not differ significantly. 1.3 Achievement Mean gain score of users of e-learning package on Demonstration method teaching module and non user group of e-learning package do not differ significantly. 1.4 Achievement Mean gain score of users of e-learning package on Programmed instruction method teaching module and non user group of e-learning package do not differ significantly. 1.5 Achievement Mean gain score of users of e-learning package on Field Trip method teaching module and non user group of e-learning package do not differ significantly. 1.6 Achievement Mean gain score of users of e-learning package on Computer assisted instruction method teaching module and non user group of e-learning package do not differ significantly. Note: All these six hypotheses are further expanded in context of Cognitive domain of Blooms taxonomy of educational objectives.
Population for this study is students, who are studying in B.Ed. course through Open and Distance Learning Mode, enrolled in IGNOU. A sample of 80 students is taken to conduct this Experimental Study.
The tools uses for the Research work are- 1. Lecture Method Achievement Test. 2. Project Method Achievement Test. 3. Programmed Instruction Method Achievement Test. 4. Demonstration Method Achievement Test. 5. Field Study/ Trip Method Achievement Test. 6. Computer Assisted Instruction Method Achievement Test. 7. Reaction Scale for users of e-learning package.
Experimental Method has been adopted in the present study. The Pretest-Posttest Nonequivalent- Groups Design is used . As a facilitator researcher was present in both Experimental and Control group settings.
t-test and Chi square analysis have been applied for analyzing the data.
The researcher has developed an e-learning package for B.Ed. teacher trainees of Open and Distance learning mode. The process comprises of five stages: 1. To identify learners through preliminary surveys. (Analysis) 2. Designing of the self training package. (Design) 3. Production of self training package. (Development) 4. Establishing delivery systems. (Implementation) 5. Evaluation. (Evaluation) Identifying the learners through preliminary survey (Analysis) The target group for pre tryout of this e-learning package was identified as follows: They are distance learners as well as self directed and self motivated learners. Hindi or other regional language is their mother tongue, but they use English as their second language for academic purpose. Most of them are employed in various English medium schools as a teacher. They are highly motivated and are willing to take responsibility for their own education. They learn in a variety of ways. It is also true that B.Ed. course is very important for their future and career related aspects. Their weaknesses are that they lack information, and knowledge about teaching methods. They are eager to update their information regarding teaching methods. Researcher after discussing with B.Ed. trainees selected six teaching methods namely, Lecture Method, Project Method, Demonstration Method, Programmed Instruction Method, Field trip Method, and Computer Assisted Instruction Method. Content analysis of these selected teaching methods has been done by the researcher. Design of the self-training package (Design): At this level researcher included analysis of subject content and course modules, identified learning objectives, sequencing, instructional strategy, and designed. Instructional media which was set up in such a way that the aim of package facilitate the use of distance teaching technique and suit the characteristics and needs of target users of e-learning package. Production of the Self-training package (Develop) Researcher developed a web based e-learning package by using an open source cloud computing based software www.sites.google.com, keeping in mind the idea of anywhere, anytime, and any place. This e-learning package consists of both text and videos and other useful links. Text and video were evaluated in term of content validity by the researcher and experts of this field. Establishing delivery systems (Implementation): Researcher, at the time of data collection told the web.
Govt. of India with a joint venture of Indian Institute of Technologies, and Indian Institute of Science, is working in direction of its dream project National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) with the objective to develop and diffuse the e-learning content on science and technology related content. Although nearly seventy e-learning packages related with social sciences are developed under NPTEL project. As per findings of our study, it is mandatory that developer should try to keep in mind pedagogical aspects and make e-learning package easy, attractive, interactive and enriched with effective communication tools so that learner can be self-motivated to use it. Educational organizations should have to see and identify the important aspects of e-learning for their use. They have to provide a facility that, if a student, due to some reasons cannot attend classes of traditional or any other mode, then he can use option of e-learning package. Even this technique can also be used in remedial classes and other extra input. It can be used as a blended learning form because results suggest that it enrich the program. Our research finding suggests that achievement of user trainees of e-learning package is greater than the non user group. It means that it is a source which can be used in the absence of teacher, or due to process related delay caused in teaching learning environment. Besides it, a large number of user trainees of e-learning package agree that e-learning provide clear content knowledge, sufficient information, up-to-date information, easy in use, clear and understandable, well organize etc., it means using the e-learning package enhance their academic excellence. Therefore organization should have to look in this direction.
