The objectives of this study were: (1) To find out the Personality traits, Intelligence, Values, Socio-economic Status of alienated and unalienated students and their attitudes towards their teachers. (2) To compare the alienated and unalienated students on the following variables: Personality traits; Intelligence; Values; Socio-economic status and Attitude towards teachers. (3)To find out the possible reasons for alienation among the school going students. (4) To suggest the remedial measures to the teachers, parents, the guidance workers, the educationalists and the students.
The findings were: (1) Alienated students are more reserved, detached, aloof, stiff, cold and rigid in comparison to the unalienated students. (2) Unalienated students have high intelligence and alienated students have low intelligence. (3) Alienated students are more affected by feelings, easily get upset, emotionally less stable in comparison to the unalienated students. (4) Alienated students have more Phlegmatic Temperament and these students have the traits of being complacement, and inactive in comparison to the unalienated students. (5) Alienated students are more obedient, mild, submissive and dependent in comparison to the unalienated students. (6) Alienated students are more outgoing, frivolous and have weaker upper ego strength in comparison to the unalienated students. (7) Alienated students are more shy, timid, threat-sensitive, restrained in comparison to the unalienated students. (8) Alienated students are more tough minded and expects little in comparison to the unalienated students. (9) Alienated students are more insensitive to people’s approval or disapproval in comparison to the unalienated students. (10) Alienated students as well as unalienated students both have group dependences. (11) Alienated students are more careless of social rules in comparison to the unalienated students. (12) Alienated students have low Ergic Tension and more Torpid in comparison to the unalienated students. (13) Alienated students fall in the category of Average Intelligence and unalienated students obtained the category of High Intelligence. (14) Religious value: Unalienated students have more faith in God and fear of divine in comparison to the alienated students. (15) Social values: Alienated students have more social value in comparison to the unalienated students. (16) It has been found that in religious, social and democratic values significant differences exist between the alienated and unalienated students. (17) The attitude of the alienated and unalienated students revealed that there exists significant difference on all five areas of the attitude scale.
