The hypotheses of study were: (1) There is no significant difference between Rural and Urban students in terms of Reading Ability. (2) There is no significant difference between Rural and Urban students in terms of Reasoning Ability. (3) There is no significant difference between Rural and Urban students in terms of SES and Achievement separately. (4) There is no significant difference between Boys and Girls in terms of Reasoning Ability, SES, Reading Ability and Achievement separately. (5) There is no significant difference between Rural and Urban Girls in terms of SES, Achievement, Reading Ability and Reasoning Ability separately. (6) There is no significant difference between Rural and Urban Boys in terms of Reading Ability, Reasoning Ability, SES, and Achievement separately. (7) There is no significant difference in the Reading Ability, Reasoning Ability, SES and Achievement of all the students. (8) There is no significant difference in the Reading Ability, Reasoning Ability, SES and Achievement of all students. (9) There is no significant difference in the Reading Ability, Reasoning Ability, SES and Achievement of all students. (10) Independent variables (Reasoning Ability, SES and Achievement) have no contribution towards Reading Ability. (11) Independent variables (Reasoning Ability, SES and Achievement) have no contribution towards Reading Ability of Rural and Urban students separately. (12) There is no significant correlation between Reading Ability and Reasoning Ability, SES and Achievement separately of all the Boys and Girls of Rural and Urban students.
The data were analyzed by t - Test, Correlation and Regression Method.
The findings of study were: (1) Reading Ability, Reasoning Ability, SES and Achievement in Hindi of Urban students were found to be superior to Rural students. (2) There was no difference between Boys and Girls in relation to Reading Ability, Reasoning Ability and SES separately. (3) Achievement of Girls was found to be higher than Boys. (4) Urban Girls were better than Rural Girls in terms of Reading Ability, Reasoning Ability, SES and Achievement separately. (5) Urban Boys were found to be better than Rural Boys in terms of Reading Ability and Reasoning Ability while in terms of SES and Achievement, they were same. (6) There was no significant correlation between Reading Ability and Reasoning Ability, SES, Achievement separately of all students. (7) There is significant correlation between Reading Ability and reasoning, SES, Achievement separately in Rural and Urban students separately. (8) It was found that Reasoning Ability, SES and Achievement contributed significantly towards Reading Ability. (9) There was significant correlation of Reading Ability to Reasoning, SES & Achievement separately.
