Objective of the study:
To study the relative effectiveness of Computer Assisted and Conventional Instruction in terms of Achievement and retention in Mathematics of Primary School Students.
Sample of the study:
The present study focused on 200 samples in two groups, namely, Conventional or Traditional Instruction group and Self Learning Strategy Group containing both boys and girls of different schools were located in Dharwad and its surroundings.

Statistical Techniques Used:
Statistical Techniques used were descriptive statistics, differential analysis with students paired and unpaired t-test, Analysis of Covariance or two way analysis of variance with interaction, Scheffes multiple comparison test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, Regression analysis and path analysis.
Findings:
There is significant direct and indirect effect of Attitude towards mathematics, Attitude towards self learning strategy, Achievement motivation, Numerical Reasoning and Numerical ability test scores on achievement in Mathematics of primary school students as total.
There is significant direct and indirect effect of Attitude towards mathematics, Attitude towards self learning strategy, Achievement motivation, Numerical Reasoning and Numerical ability test scores on achievement in Mathematics of primary school students in Experimental Self Learning Strategy group.
There is significant direct and indirect effect of Attitude towards mathematics, Attitude towards self learning strategy, Achievement motivation, Numerical Reasoning and Numerical ability test scores on achievement in Mathematics of primary school students in conventional group.
