(1) To find out the significant difference among physical education teachers working in the colleges of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Union Territory, Chandigarh. (2) To find out the inter relationship between job – stress, job satisfaction and adjustment of physical education teachers of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Union Territory, Chandigarh.
(1) There would be no significant difference among physical education college teachers working in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Union Territory, Chandigarh in their job – stress, job satisfaction and adjustment variable. (2) There would be no relationship between job stress, job satisfaction and adjustment of physical education teachers working in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Union Territory, Chandigarh.
The randomly selected sample comprised 110 Physical Education Teachers form Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Union Territory, Chandigarh.
Paliwal’s Job Stress Scale, B.C. Muthyya’s Job Satisfaction Scale and S.K. Mangal’s Teacher Adjustment Inventory were used for data collection.
This research was Survey in nature.
The data were analyzed using Correlation and ANOVA techniques.
(1) Physical education teachers of Himachal state experienced significantly more job – stress than physical education teachers of Punjab state. (2) Physical education teachers of Punjab and Chandigarh had significantly better job satisfaction than physical education teachers of Himachal Pradesh. (3) No significant difference was observed among physical education teachers of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab and Chandigarh colleges in respect of academic and general environment adjustment. (4) Social – psycho – physical adjustment of Punjab and Chandigarh physical education teachers was better than the physical education teachers working in the colleges of Himachal Pradesh. (5) No significant difference was observed in professional relationship adjustment among physical education teachers working in the colleges of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Chandigarh. (6) No significant difference was observed in personal life adjustment among physical education teachers working in the colleges of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Chandigarh. (7) Financial adjustment of physical education teachers working in Punjab and Chandigarh colleges was found better than physical education teachers working in the colleges of Himachal Pradesh. (8) Teachers of physical education working in the colleges of Punjab and Chandigarh were having overall better adjustment than physical education teachers working in the colleges of Himachal Pradesh state. (9) Significant relationship was found between job stress and job satisfaction of physical education teachers belonging to Himachal Pradesh. (10) In case of physical education teachers belonging to Himachal Pradesh, Job stress was found negatively related with various dimensions of adjustment, such as, (a) Academic and general environment adjustment of the institutions; (b) Socio – psycho – physical adjustment; (c) Professional relationship adjustment; (d) Personal life adjustment; (e) Financial adjustment; and (f) Overall adjustment. (11) Significant relationship was observed between job satisfaction and dimensions of adjustment, such as, (a) Academic and general environment adjustment of the institution, (b) Socio – psycho – physical adjustment, (c) Personal life adjustment, (d) Financial adjustment, and (e) Overall adjustment. (12) No significant relationship was observed between job stress and job satisfaction of physical education teachers of Punjab. (13) In case of physical education teachers of Punjab, significant negative relationship of job stress was observed in respect of dimensions of adjustment, such as, (a) Academic and general environment of the institution, (b) Professional relationship adjustment, (c) Financial adjustment, (d) Overall adjustment, and (e) Job Stress was not significantly related to socio – psycho – physical adjustment and personal life adjustment. (14) In case of physical education teachers of Punjab, significant positive relationship was observed between job satisfaction and dimensions of adjustment, such as, (a) Academic and general environment of the institution, (b) Professional relationship adjustment, (c) Total adjustment, and (d) Job satisfaction was not significantly related to socio – psycho – physical adjustment and personal life adjustment. (15) For Chandigarh physical education teachers, no significant inter – correlation was observed among job stress, job satisfaction and adjustment dimensions including overall adjustment.
