The objectives of the study were: (1) To study and compare Child Rearing Practices (CRP) scores of employed and household mothers. (2) To study and compare the CRP scores of employed and household mothers having different educational levels. (3) To compare the CRP scores of employed and household mothers. (4) To study the variance between CRP scores both for employed and household mothers. (5) To study the relationship between the CRP scores and employed and household mothers of different educational levels and academic attainment of their children. 

The hypotheses of the study were: (1) There is significant difference between CRP scores of employed and household mothers. (2) There is significant difference between CRP scores of university educated employed (UE) and university educated household mothers. (3) There is significant difference between CRP scores of higher secondary educated employed and higher secondary educated household mothers. (4) There is significant difference between CRP scores of primary educated (PE) employed and primary educated household mothers. (5) There is significant relationship between CRP of UE employed mothers and academic attainment of their children. (6) There is significant relationship between CRP of primary educated mothers and academic attainment of their children. (7) There is significant relationship between CRP of primary educated employed mothers and academic attainment of their children. (8) There is significant relationship between university educated houseful mothers and academic attainment of their children. (9) There is significant relationship between higher secondary educated mothers and academic attainment of their children. (10) There is significant relationship between primary educated household mothers and academic attainment of their children. (11) There is significant variance between the CRP scores of employed mothers having different educational levels. (12) There is significant variance between the CRP scores of household mother having different educational levels. 

Tools used were CRP Questionnaire by Goswami. Marks of final examination of the children were taken as academic attainments scores. 

The findings of the study were: (1) The CRP scores between employed and household mothers did not differ significantly. (2) The CRP scores of university educated employed mothers and CRP scores of uneducated household mothers did not differ significantly. (3) The CRP scores of High school Educated (Employed) mothers and High school Educated (House hold) and scores of Primary Educated (Employed) and Primary Educated (House hold) mothers do not show significant difference but are similar. (4) The CRP scores of University Educated (Employed), University Educated (House hold) mother, High school Educated (Employed) mothers, High school Educated (House hold) mother separately do not any significant relationship to academic attainment percentage scores of there children but different to each other. (5) The CRP scores of Primary Educated (Employed) mothers and Primary Educated (House hold) mothers separately and academic attainments percentage scores of their children show significant relationship affecting each other. (6) The three independent group CRP scores of Primary Educated (Employed), High school Educated (Employed) and University Educated (Employed) mothers show significant variance between education based three independent sample scores. (7) The three independent group CRP scores of Primary Educated (House hold), High school Educated (House hold) and University Educated (House hold) mothers show significant variance between education based three independent sample scores.
