The objectives of study were: (1) To identify psycho – educational, vocational variables that facilitate vocational rehabilitation of educable cerebral palsied children. (2) To measure the relative weightage of parental counseling, workshop experience / career guidance, independence training and achievement motivation in the vocational rehabilitation of an educable cerebral palsied child. (3) To study the type of relationship parental counseling, workshop experience / career guidance, independence training and achievement motivation bear with each other. (4) To develop a model for identification and prediction of vocationally rehabilitated and vocationally un-rehabilitated educable cerebral palsied children. (5) To find out if the data on above four variables account for variation in response variable.
The hypotheses of study were: (1) There is a significant relationship between independence training and achievement motivations. (2) There is a significant relationship between parental counseling and independence training. (3) There is no significant relationship between parental counseling and workshop experience, and career guidance. (4) There is no significant relationship between parental counseling and achievement motivation. (5) There is no significant relationship between workshop experience / career guidance and achievement motivation. (6) There is a significant relationship between independence training and workshop experience / career guidance. (7) On the basis of parental counseling, workshop experience / career guidance, independence training and achievement motivation we can classify our data into pre – defined groups of potential vocational rehabilitated and potential vocationally un-rehabilitated educable cerebral palsied children. (8) There is no significant effect of parental counseling, workshop experience / career guidance, independence training and achievement motivation in the vocational rehabilitation of the educable cerebral palsied children of vocationally rehabilitated and vocationally un-rehabilitated groups.
Sample comprised of 120 Children of age group of 12 to 20 from workshop of Chetna Institute of Mentally Handicapped, Lucknow and 119 Educable types C.P. Children in the same age group from General population. The sample was selected with the help of Random Sampling Technique.
The Stanford Binet Scale, Achievement Motivation Test by Prayag Mehta, Independent Training Questionnaire (Split-half reliability coefficient=0.93), Observation Interview Schedule and Inquiry Form developed by researcher were used for data collection.Ex – Post Facto Research Design was used.
The data were analyzed by computing Mean, SD and CR.
The findings of study were: (1) There is a significant relationship between independence training and achievement motivation. (2) There is a significant relationship between parental counseling and independence training. (3) There is a significant relationship between parental counseling and workshop experience / career guidance. (4) There is a significant relationship between parental counseling and achievement motivation. (5) There is low but significant correlation between workshop experience / career guidance and achievement motivation. (6) There is a significant correlation between workshop experience / vocational guidance and achievement motivation. (7) On the basis of parental counseling workshop experience career guidance, independence training and achievement motivation we can classify our data into two predefined groups of vocationally rehabilitated and vocationally un-rehabilitated educable cerebral palsied children with 81.67% correctness. Parental counseling, independence training and workshop experience / career guidance have significant effect over vocational rehabilitation of educable cerebral palsied children.
