The objectives of study were: (1) To conduct a comparative study of academic achievement of class VIII students studying in junior middle schools run by local bodies and social, religious and private agencies. (2) To conduct a comparative study of disciplinary behaviour of class VIII students studying in junior middle schools run by local bodies and social, religious and private agencies. (3) To conduct a comparative study of administrative system and maintenance of various junior middle schools run by local bodies and social, religious and private agencies.
The hypotheses of study were: (1) There is no significant difference in
the academic achievement of students belonging to school being run by
private agencies and those belonging to school run by local bodies and
social and religious agencies. (2) The disciplinary behaviour of
students belonging to school being run by local bodies and social,
religious agencies is better as compared to those belonging to school
run by private agencies. (3) There is difference in administrative
system and maintenance of school run by local bodies, social, religious
agencies and these run by private agencies.
The sample selected though Stratified Proportion Random Sampling Technique comprised of 600 students of class VIII from Bundelkhand Division.
SES Scale by S.P. Kulshreshtra, Behaviour Scale and Achievement Tests in Hindi, Maths, Science and Social Science were developed by researcher for data collection.
The research was descriptive in nature.The data were analyzed by Mean, SD, QD and t – test.
The findings of study were: (1) The academic achievement of Railway School, Missionary Schools and Saraswati Vidya Mandir students was good and in increasing order. The academic achievement of private and State board school was less in decreasing order. (2) The disciplinary behaviour of students of school runs by social, religious and private agencies is better than those of Schools run by local bodies. (3) There is a difference in administrative system and maintenance of Schools run by local bodies, social and religious agencies and those run by private agencies. The best administrative system is of Missionary School, Railway School comes next in the row, after this is Saraswati Vidyamandir and the last is State board Schools.
