K, Thakur. (1996). Study of changes in Skills & Maxims of Teaching employed by Subject Teacher at different Class Levels. Unpublished. Ph.D., Education. Banasthali Vidyapith, Vanasthali, Rajasthan.
The objectives were: (1) To study the change in teaching skill of student teachers in different subjects due to change of class. (2) To study the change in teaching skill of teachers in service due to change of class. (3) To study the change in teaching maxims of different subject student teachers due to change of class. (4) To study the change in teaching maxims of teachers in service due to change of class. (5) To study the change in teaching skill of student teachers in different subjects due to teaching experience. (6) To study the change in teaching skill of teachers in service due to teaching experience. (7) To study the change in teaching skill of student teachers in different subjects due to the nature of subject. (8) To study the change in teaching skill of teachers in service due to the nature of subject. (9) To study the change in teaching maxims of student teachers in different subjects due to the nature of subject. (10) To study the change in teaching maxims of teachers in service due to the nature of subject.
The hypothesis stated were: (1) For effective teaching knowledge of teaching skills and teaching maxims not required. (2) There is no change in teaching skill of student teachers in different subjects due to change of class. (3) There is no change in teaching skill of teachers in service due to change of class. (4) There is no change in teaching maxims of different subject student teachers due to change of class. (5) There is no change in teaching maxims of teachers in service due to change of class. (6) There is no change in teaching skill due to teaching experience. (7) There is no change in teaching maxims due to the nature of subject.
From Faculty of Education, Banasthali Vidyapith; J.P. Teachers’ Training College, Bagarh and Teachers’ Training College, Adarsh Vidyamandir, Jaipur, 18 student teachers from 195 having Hindi, Science and Social Science were selected. Similarly 40 teachers in service and 18 teachers of Model Senior Secondary School were selected.
Teaching Skill & Teaching Maxims Scale and Observation Coding System developed by the investigator was used. Also a matrix was constructed to compare the teaching of lessons in all the three subjects. Frequency in usage of teaching skill & teaching maxims was analyzed through Tau - Correlation. For studying relationship between investigator and evaluators, Scott Correlation was carried out. The change in teaching skill & maxims of teaching was assessed through percentage and critical ratio.
The Survey Method was followed. To check the change in teaching skill and maxims of teaching due to change in class, nature of subject and teaching experience, a Cross Sectional Design was constructed. Consequently, one student teacher and teacher in service taught classes 6th & 9th, another student teacher and teacher in service taught classes 9th & 11th. This series was followed in every subject. In each class, student teacher & teacher in service taught 5 lessons each respectively. In total 180 lessons were taught by student teachers & teachers in service.
The difference in usage of teaching skill and teaching maxims was represented through graphics.
The findings were: (1) For effective teaching the knowledge of teaching skills and teaching maxims was not required by student teachers. (2) For effective teaching the knowledge of teaching skills and teaching maxims was not required by teachers in service. (3) The obtained percentages of teaching skills used in classes 6th, 9th & 11th by student teachers of Hindi, Science or Social Science did not differ. (4) The obtained percentages of teaching skills used in classes 6th, 9th & 11th by teachers in service of Hindi, Science or Social Science did not differ. (5) The obtained percentages of teaching maxims used in classes 6th, 9th & 11th by student teachers of Hindi, Science or Social Science did not differ. (6) The obtained percentages of teaching maxims used in classes 6th, 9th & 11th by teachers in service of Hindi, Science or Social Science did not differ. (7) The teaching skills used in classes 6th, 9th & 11th by student teachers & teachers in service of Hindi, Science or Social Science did not differ. (8) The teaching maxims used in classes 6th, 9th & 11th by student teachers & teachers in service of Hindi, Science or Social Science did not differ.
