Findings:
Among both males and females, suicide ideation is a simple measure having shown significant factor loadings on only one factor. The total variance attributed to the measure of suicide ideation virtually exhausts on this identified factor of suicide ideation. Thus, these factors are most revealing from the viewpoint of correlates of suicide ideation.
Incase of high psychosis prone males, suicide ideation is markedly associated positively with depression, and negatively with Factor C, a component of second order anxiety factor.
Incase of low psychosis prone males, the significant loadings reveal only a weak relationship between suicide ideation with depression in the sense that depression measures have shown through significant, but low factor loading.
Incase of high psychosis prone females, suicide ideation correlates positively with depression, hopelessness and social desirability, In contrast, incase of low psychosis prone females, suicide ideation and social desirability have shown significant factor loadings with a complete exclusion of other variables from the factor structure. It suggests positive relationship between suicide ideation and social desirability. These results for females also signify the importance of psychosis proneness as a significant suicidal risk factor.
