The Objectives of the study were: (1) To find out the effect of Teachers Training Programme on Self-Concept, Values and Attitude Towards Teaching among the pupil teachers of Self Financing and Government Aided Institutions. (2) To find out the sex difference of pupil teachers with respect to Self-Concept, Values and Attitude Towards Teaching as a result of Teachers Training Programme.
The study was confined to the B.Ed. students (pupil teachers) who were studying in the Government Aided and Self Financing Institutions of Education, and affiliated to Dr B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra only.The number of pupil teachers was 500 out of which 50% cases were from Self Financing and 50% were from Government Aided Institutions. Random Sampling method was used to select the sample.
Standardized tests were used to measure the Values, Attitude Towards Teaching and Self-Concept. These were "Teacher Value Inventory" (TVI) by S.P. Ahluwalia, Teacher Attitude Inventory by S.P. Ahluwalia, and Self-Concept Competency Questionnaire by V.K.Mittal and S. Abrol.
Normative survey method was applied for the collection of data.Parametric statistics was used for analysis of the data; mainly t-test and ANOVA were applied to find out the difference
between or among the means.
The findings were: (1) Teachers Training programme was found considerably effective in the improvement of self-Concept of the pupil teachers of Dr.BR. Ambedkar University, Agra irrespective of sex and type of institution. (2) Training programme of prospective teachers (B.Ed.students) had significant effect to enhance degree of their positive Attitude Towards Teaching profession. All categories of the pupil teachers, namely, students of Government Aided & Self-Financing institutions and male and female pupil teachers of both the types of institutions were significantly better in respect of their Attitude Towards Teaching. (3) Teachers Training programme had no significant impact on all the six Values (Theoretical, Economic, Aesthetic, Social, Political & Religious values) of pupil teachers irrespective of sex and type of institutions.
