The objectives of study were: (1) To study the Stagnation of Schedule Caste (SC) girls at Primary (1 - 5) Level in Kanpur (Village) District. (2) To study the attitude of SC Parents towards girls Education. (3) To Study the Attitude of SC Parents towards Educational Problems of Girls in Kanpur (Village) district. (4) To Study the Problems of SC girls with view points of girls.
The sample selected using Purposive Sampling Technique comprised of 100 Parents & 500 SC girls.
Attitude of SC Parents towards girl’s education & Attitude of Parents towards Educational problems of girls were measured with the help of Attitude Scales developed by researcher.
Research was survey in nature.
The data was analyzed using Percentage Method.
The findings of study were: (1) At primary level in SC girls education 29% stagnation was found. (2) In all areas of girls education, parents favorable attitude was found namely, for general education 93.5%, towards homes education 97%, towards Social education 74%, towards Vocational education 64% and towards School education 97%. (3) At primary level in primary education the problems were poverty 93%, Problem of groom 87%, Helping the Parents in home work and lack of proper study in School 84%, Caste biases in School 71%, Lack of appropriate facilities 64%, and Lack of women teachers 60%. (4) Most of girls (62%) were having intention of higher education. (5) Most of girls (92%) have accepted the adverse effect of home work on education. Other factors such as poverty, lack of motivation, illiterate were also found to be responsible for girls education. 68% girls expressed the view that their parents want to sent boys for school. (6) At primary level girls were having adverse attitude towards attending school in time, maintaining discipline & mid day meal. (7) In most of Schools (60%) only one teacher was found.
